Under the theme of “Compassion & Kindness”, the programme aims to cultivate ethics and virtues among the youngsters. Through four weeks of entering the monkhood, the novices will “learn” Buddhist Dhamma, “live” by focusing on the present and endeavoring to practice Dhamma principles as well as “love” and support each other, leading to “let go” of ego and selfishness to reach the goal of being a “giver” with compassion.
The public are invited to give moral support to these 12 young novices by watching the world’s first reality documentary programme in English which will run from June 25 to July 25, 2018 on TrueVisions Reality Channel 60, 99 and TrueVisions Reality HD Channel 119 or 333 which can be viewed on smartphones via TrueID application.
Mr. Suphachai Chearavanont, Chief Executive Officer, Charoen Pokphand Group /Chairman of the Executive Committee, True Corporation Plc, said “the response of True Little Monk Project which has been overwhelmingly well-received by Thai people for seven consecutive years together with awards from the world’s leading organizations have driven Charoen Pokphand Group and True Corporation to initiate “True Little Monk : A Wisdom Training Programme for Novices”, the world’s first international dhamma reality documentary programme conducted in English.
The programme aims to expand Buddhism to an international scale to bring Lord Buddha’s Dhamma to the hearts of peoples across the world, as well as to set good examples and inspire the public to practice Dhamma principles. “True Little Monk: A Wisdom Training Programme for Novices” is organized in remembrance of and as a merit making for HM King Bhumibol Adulyadej, and a graceful tribute to HM King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun on the occasion of his 66th Birthday Anniversary on July 28, 2018 as well as to HM Queen Sirikit in King Rama IX on the occasion of her 86th Birthday Anniversary on August 12, 2018.
From 500 applicants, 12 candidates from various nationalities such as British, French, Australian, New Zealander, Kenyan, Chinese and Nepalese were selected to be ordained as novices at Wat Pah Sai Ngam in Ubon Ratchathani province under the supervision of Abbot Master Phrakhru Nikrotthammaphon (Luang Ta Anek Yasadinno) as well as Phrakhru Ubonbhavanaviteht (Ajahn Kevali), the Abbot of Wat Pah Nanachat together with Thai and international monks from the branch of Wat Nong Pah Pong.
All through their four weeks of monkhood, the novice monks will study and practice the Lord Buddha’s teachings via activities with reverend monks, several experts and special guests. Under the concept of “Compassion & Kindness”, they will “learn” Dhamma, “live” by focusing on the present and practicing Dhamma principles as well as “love” and support each other and finally “let go” of ego and selfishness to reach the goal of being a “giver” with compassion. This is to cultivate good deeds of ethics and virtues to the youths and new generation in the world today.
In addition, it is a great honor for CP and True Groups that, HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn has bestowed a set of monk’s robes for the preceptor in the ordination ceremony of the True Little Monk: A Wisdom Training Programme for Novices on July 1, 2018. Sub. Lt. Wichai Suriyut, Martin Wheeler and the Northeastern Indigenous Knowledge Group.
